Dilly Casserole Bread
Here is my wife’s dill bread recipe, which she got from her mom (who modified it from some community cookbook).
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c warm water
- 1 c creamed cottage cheese
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 1 Tbsp instant onion
- 2 tsp dill weed
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 egg
- 2 – 2 1/2 c flour
Dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside. Heat cottage cheese to lukewarm, remove from heat, and stir in sugar, butter, onion, dill, salt, soda, egg, and yeast mixture. Gradually add enough flour to make a stiff dough and beat well. Cover and let rise in a warm place until double in size (about 50-60 minutes). Push down dough and turn into well greased 8 in. casserole dish. Let rise 30-40 minutes then bake at 350F for 45 minutes.
